Materi Writing 4 Kelas X SMA/SMK/MA/MAK



  • INSTRUCTIONS
  1.  Siswa mampu menguasai teknologi yang ada, yakni mampu menggunkan blog,       Quipper, Edmodoo, Email and Whatsapp.

  2.     Seluruh siswa wajib untuk memiliki Blog dalam writing IV.

  3.     Siswa mempunyai tugas untuk dikerjakan.

 4.  Untuk mengumpulkan tugas, siswa harus menshare tugas yang dibuat dalam blog     masing masing siswa dan memberitahukan alamat blog kepada guru.

A.    Descriptive Text
Descriptive text is a text that describes a person, place or thing.

B.     Generic Structure
Descriptive Text has two generic structure. This is Identification and Description.

BOROBUDUR TEMPLE

(Identification)
Borobudur is a Buddhist temple. It was built in the ninth century under Sailendra dynasty of ancient Mataram kingdom. Borobudur is located in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia.

(Description)
Borobudur is well-known all over the world. Its construction is influenced by the Gupta architecture of India. The temple is constructed on a hill 46 meter high and consists of eight steps like stone terrace. The first five terraces are square and surrounded by walls adorned with Buddhist sculpture in bas-relief. The upper three are circular. Each of them is with a circle of bell shape-stupa. The entire upper structure is crowned by a large stupa at the center of the top circle. The way to the summit extends through some 4.8 km of passage and stairways.


The design of Borobudur symbolizes the conception of universe in Buddhist cosmology. It is believed that the universe is divided into three spiritual spheres, kamadhatu, rupadhatu, and arupadhatu. The first sphere, kamadhatu, represents respectively the sphere of desires where we are bound to our desires; the second sphere, rupadhatu, represents forms where we abandon our desires but are still bound to name and form; and the last sphere, arupadhatu, represents formlessness where there is no longer either name or form. Borobudur temple which is rededicated as an Indonesian monument in 1983 is a valuable treasure for Indonesian people. With its magnificent size and architecture, no wonder that Borobudur Temple includes 7 wonders of the world.

C.    Tenses

In descriptive text using Present Tenses. Descriptive text using Present tense because tells the fact from object descriptions.

  • INSTRUCTIONS

A.    Announcement

Announcement is an official notification about something, whether written or spoken which presented to the public.

B.     Generic Structure

This generic structure pattern is used in writing the type of text of this announcement so that the goal is achieved. The generic structure of announcement is as follows:

1.      Title
2.      Explanation
In explanation usually consists of type’s activities, time, place, and participant.

C.    Characteristic or Language Features

1.      Simple Present Tense
2.      Simple Future
3.      No conjunction
4.      Date, time, place
5.      Event

A.    Past Event

Events or activities that have occurred in the past. In this material, past event consists of simple past tenses and present perfect tenses.

 2. Present Perfect

3.   Siswa mempunyai tugas untuk membuat cerita dalam bahasa inggris tentang asal usul desa tempat tinggal mereka serta mengidentifikasi generic structure.

A.    Narrative Text

Narrative text that are a series of events that are interconnected and delivered sequentially and neatly from beginning to end so as to form a complete understanding in the minds of readers or listeners. Narrative text can also an imaginative story to entertain people. Narrative text has many kind, they are:

1.      Folklore / Folktale

2.      Legend

3.      Myth

4.      Fable

5.      Short story

B.    Generic Structure

1.     Orientation
Orientation is the first part of Narrative Text, located at the beginning of the story or in the first paragraph. The function of Orientation is to introduce to the reader or listener the character of the narrative story, time, and setting of the story. The Orientation usually written briefly and can answer the questions who, what, where, when.

2.     Complication
Complication is the next part of Narrative Text. This section is the one awaited by readers and listeners because in this section the problems in the story arise, so that Narrative Text becomes more interesting to read and not boring. In making Narrative Text, the writers may give one or more problems in this, section so that the text is more interesting. Usually, problems that arise in this section involve the main characters of the text.

3.     Resolution
Resolution is the next part after Complication. At Resolution, the problems found in Complication begin to be resolved with various solutions. Solutions to overcome or end the problem do not always good and happy ending, sometimes there are bad and sad ending solutions. In addition, there are other solutions to overcome problems but do not solve the problems but hang up to the end of the story, thus making the readers more curious. It aims to maintain the reader's interest in the story.

4.     Coda / Re – Orientation
Re-orientation is the last part of the Narrative text and usually at the end of the story or in the last paragraph. Re-orientation is a choice which means that the writer who wants to make Narrative Text can use the Re-orientation or not. This a part usually contains useful messages for readers related to the story. The messages can be moral messages, or teachings from the author.

C.    Past Tense

Narrative text using past tense because it tells a series of events that are not real or a series of events that have occurred in the past. Narrative text can use Past Tense, whether it's Simple Past Tense, Past Continuous Tense, or Past Perfect Continuous Tense.

Materi Writing 9 Kelas X SMA/SMK/MA/MAK



  • INSTRUCTIONS

1.  Siswa mampu menguasai teknologi yang ada, yakni mampu menggunakan Blog, Quipper, Edmodoo, Email and Whatsapp.
2.   Siswa mengikuti petunjuk yang diberikan oleh guru untuk membuka link blog yang berisi materi singkat tentang Writing IX.
3.  Setelah memahami materi, siswa mempunyai tugas dari guru untuk paraphrasing sebuah lirik lagu.
4.  Untuk mengumpulkan tugas, siswa harus men-share tugas yang dibuat dalam blog masing masing siswa untuk memberitahukan alamat blog kepada guru.


A.    Paraphrasing

Paraphrasing is a linguistic term which means re-expressing a concept in another way in the same language, but without changing its meaning. Paraphrasing gives the writer the possibility to give a slightly different emphasis to the original writer.

B.     Basic Skill to Paraphrasing Song

C.    Paraphrasing Song Lyric step

1.  First of all, you need to understand the main idea of the article or the song. If you want to rewrite song lyrics, read it carefully and try to grab the idea, which is the backbone of the song or article.
2.  If you don’t know the meaning of few words or phrases, try to find the meanings. It’s very important, as you cannot use the words from the original text or song. You have to use the alternate words, those words which convey the same meanings but are not from the original text.
3.  When you start rewriting an article or rewriting lyrics to a song, avoid rewriting each and every sentence. It will be difficult for you to change the sentence structure in this way. You will replace the words only and that will be caught as plagiarism. So, it’s better to read a paragraph and rewrite it in your own words.
4.  Try to rewrite in your own style. Everyone has a different writing style, if you will write in a natural writing style, the song or document will turn into a new and unique piece.
 5. When you start rewriting a song, select an easy song to rewrite lyrics. It should be easily understandable for you. Start with easy song and after that you will be able to rewrite even difficult ones.
 6.  After you have completed the rewriting. Read it again and find your mistakes. 
 7. Proper editing is very necessary. You might have to rearrange the sentence or you may find spelling mistakes or grammatical errors. Correct all such mistakes and check it again.
 8. It’s a good idea to check your document with a plagiarism tool. Many online tools are available, which can help you to remove plagiarism.
 9.  In the end, show it to someone else. It is very difficult for a person to catch his own mistakes. A senior in the family, may be able to point your mistakes.
